Provincial Immigration Programs

In addition to possibility to immigrate as a skilled worker under Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canada provides an opportunity of immigration through Nominations from one of the country’s provinces.

What is Provincial Immigration Program?

Provincial Immigration Program is a program, which exists in each Canadian province to implement needs of particular province in proper immigrants. Each province has its own list of occupations in demand and its own economic sector with the lack of qualified workforce. In order not to limit the opportunities of potential immigrants by Federal Programs, each province is entitled to invite new specialists independently.

Similarities and differences of Provincial Programs

In most cases all Provincial Programs are similar in terms of requirements to applicants:

  • If a candidate has job offer for full-time employment from a particular provincial employer, he is practically guaranteed to obtain Invitation to Apply for permanent residence. However, it should be noted that it is almost impossible to find employer who is willing to wait for you and fiddle with additional work for your employment.
  • If a candidate has work experience in any Canadian province for more than 6 months, he also has good chances for provincial immigration. But this fact is not interesting for those who lives in other countries.
  • If a candidate obtained education in any Canadian province, Canadian immigration authorities will be glad to see him as a permanent resident.
  • If a candidate has a friend (for example in Manitoba) or close relative in particular province (mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, sister, brother, half-sister, half-brother), this province will be pleased to tell you “Yes”.
  • Each province has its own passing score, which mostly does not exceed 67 points on a scale of Federal evaluation. Some provinces have lover pass mark though.
  • Required level of language proficiency for provincial programs is from 4.0 to 6.0 and higher according to results of IELTS exam (International English Language Testing System).
  • Immigration process takes from 7 months to 2 years.
  • It is necessary to have available funds in the amount of 10 000 CAD for principal applicant and 2 000 CAD for each additional applicant minimum for settlement in the province of destination.
  • Availability of sufficient funds for opening own business or investing in various economic sectors of provinces also will lead to positive selection under Provincial Immigration Program.

The conclusion is as follows: if you do not fit for Federal Immigration Program Federal Skilled Worker Class and if at least one above-mentioned factors applies to you, we will be glad to provide our services to you and consult on immigration through Provincial Nominee Programs.
